Wedding Reception Appetizers
It might be a little strange when you really think about it but the truth is that a lot of couples get stuck on planning for their wedding when confronted with the choice of what to serve as appetizers. There are just too many options in the list which makes it infinitely hard to decide.
To help make things a little bit easier for you, here are certain suggestions that you might want to look at:
Puffs- These are very popular not only for wedding receptions but also other events such as cocktail parties, etc. Some of the most popular puffs are made of lobster, shrimp, salmon, and other types of seafood. The key to a great puff is excellent selection of filling. If you are going with seafood, make sure that everything is fresh and safe to eat.
Canapes- These things are quite filling but they do stimulate the palate to such point that would encourage the person to eat well when the main course arrives.
Stuffed Mushrooms- This is an excellent crowed pleaser especially if you serve it with champagne. It is quite filling as well but it does not tire out the taste buds at all so you will still be able to appreciate the main course.
Broccoli Tarts- Simple yet elegant. These are what broccoli tarts are all about. They are also very easy to make and affordable to boot.
Caviar- Before you sigh out loud because of the exorbitant expense that you are already calculating in your brain, take note that this is a very nice delicacy that could easily pass as the highlight of the menu. Aside from that, it is also very tasty and filling.
Choosing the Appetizers
When you start looking at the options for appetizers, you would have to consider the obvious factors such as your budget, the theme of the wedding, location, and the number of guests that are invited.
Two appetizers are enough. There is no reason to go overboard with this because people are not going to stuff themselves with appetizers since most of them are looking forward to the main course. In fact, one heavy appetizer such as lobster puffs would be enough.
Allocate a definite number of trays per table and make sure that you will have at least 5 appetizers for each guests but no more than 7 if you are going for puffs.
