Wedding Drinks

Wedding drinks are considered among the essentials in every reception.  Guests are expected to be entertained and get inebriated with booze and fun.  So the big question is, how much should you allocate for drinks and which ones should you stock up on for the  reception?

One of the first things to remember is that beer is not exactly what guests expect when they attend weddings.  Cocktails are a must so having an open bar should be something to consider.

Recommended Drinks for Receptions

Martinis.  Both men as well as women like martini whether it is the gin or vodka variety.  Olives and onions are also must haves.

Scotch.  If there is ever a time to haul out that single malt scotch you have been saving since your last visit to your beloved grandpa, this would be it.  Male guests would revel in the fact that the groom actually sprang for topnotch scotch for the occasion.  Don’t worry, chances are one of your closest male friends would give you a replacement for the single malt scotch, most probably in the form of a wedding present.

Manhattan. In the same way that men love scotch, women prefer cocktails like this very famous New York drink.  It has quite the kick but is still every bit of a ladies drink.

Wedding Cake.  In weddings, you can eat cake and drink it too.  This wedding cocktail is a mixture of gin, amaretto, orange juice, pineapple juice, and cream.  It is often referred to as the liquid alcoholic dessert because it is quite as sweet as a wedding cake but it packs the kick of a potent cocktail

Red and White Wine. In any occasion, these two are always present.  They are like staples in events so you should never run out of it.  In fact, these are the safety drinks because they are usually served when all the cocktails have been exhausted.

Whichever types of drinks you choose to be served at the wedding reception, just make sure that the booze will not run out.  Wedding drinks are usually what most guests remember the most about the event, mostly because it gives them the painful hangover the following morning.

To add some ingenuity, you might also want to explore the possibility of having your own drink, that is, a cocktail that is named after the occasion or whatever you call each other as a couple.  It’s more of the novelty of the thing more than the potency of the drink really.
