Summer Weddings

A wedding is a ceremony that is perfect in its own way and the summertime is a popular time for many weddings. Some advantages of summer weddings versus winter weddings include being able to go outdoors and it is also easier for students and parents to attend due to summer vacation. Here are some ideas and tips for throwing the perfect summer wedding.

1. The first thing you should think about is the heat factor for outdoor weddings and receptions.  For instance, if there is an outdoor venue that has been selected for the wedding, make sure that the venue is appropriately shaded and air conditioned with portable air conditioners or fans. Hire waiters who frequently serve the guests with cold drinks.

2. Be sure to send invitations well in advance, in the early or late spring. Summer is a great time to have weddings, as most students will be on summer break. Reception of the invitation well in advance helps guests arrange their vacations accordingly.

3. Place an order for appetizers. A menu that matches up with summer themes would be perfect such as grilled meats, fresh food, and ice cream. Consider appetizers like Gazpacho shooters and desserts like fruit pies. Frozen cocktails drinks are refreshing and delicious for outdoor weddings on warm sunny days.

4. Depending on where you are located, it may be a good idea to avoid having an outdoor ceremony mid-day as that is the hottest part of the day. Consider having a morning wedding instead. Also, make sure the clothing for the bride, groom, and other wedding participants is light and comfortable.

5. Nice wedding venues for the summertime include gardens or waterfront establishments. It is also nice if people have the option of going indoors as well to get away from the heat. Make sure to book your wedding venue well in advance as many other people will be planning summer weddings.

6. If you are planning on having the wedding or reception outdoors, develop an indoor contingency plan in case of rain or bad weather.

These careful thoughts can guarantee you a summer wedding with fond memories.
