Wedding Reception Entertainment

Weddings are not only supposed to be romantic but they also have to be fun.  Guests expect to have the best possible time when they attend wedding receptions and yes, it includes alcohol induced frivolities.  If you are looking to make your guests as happy as you are on your wedding day, you will have to spring for good wedding reception entertainment.

If you have a wedding planner, this is something that you will not have to fuss about.  Just mention that you want the reception to be as fun as possible and he/she would be responsible for making the necessary arrangements.  However, if you do not have a planner, you would have to make calls and set up the whole thing yourself.

Tips for Wedding Reception Entertainment

Get a Live Band- People are always in the mood to dance at weddings, especially when they have had a couple of martinis.  Consider hiring a swing band rather than a string quartet so that guests can actually  get their groove on the dance floor rather than just sway.  When hiring a live band, make sure that you get them to audition first to check if they have the goods.

Get a String Quartet- This is another way to go if you do not like very loud and lively music.  Of course you cannot expect everyone to like this kind of music but the bright side is that the even will look a lot more dignified as compared to having a swing band. If most of  the guests at your wedding are people who are not into dancing that much, you can get away with this choice just fine.

Keep the Booze Flowing- When people get tired of dancing, they may want to get a daze from another source, like liquor.  Consider having an open bar so that they can choose their own drinks as opposed to forcing that ’94 Montrachet down everyone’s glasses.

Do Away with Flying Birds at the Reception- This is usually a downer because of the possibility of people getting beaked in the face accidentally or worse, getting droppings on the bride’s gown or even worse, on the groom’s head.  Try not to have any animals at all in the reception because it is likely to put people off.

Wedding Singers are Out-  Yes, the novelty of having a wedding singer at wedding reception has worn off and it is not likely to come back any time soon.
