Jazz Up Your Reception with Wedding Food Stations

Wedding receptions are made for celebrations. This is where you, as a newlywed couple, could finally interact freely with your guests and thank them for taking the time to witness this very important occasion. As everyone knows, food is usually the center of attraction (apart from the hosts and the event) during wedding receptions. While buffets have toppled over the usual controlled or ala carte mode of serving food, you can actually make it better for your guests. Instead of going for the usual buffet service, why not try creating wedding food stations instead?

Each wedding food station has its very own theme. You can also serve food in small bite sizes or as mini-buffets arranged specially within the wedding venue. Here are some suggested themes you can use for each of the wedding food stations you will create:

1. Asian food section – From Thai, Chinese to Japanese and everything else Asian and exotic, this station can feature noodle and rice dishes from that continent. You can serve them in small sized cups so that your guests can easily pick one up from the table. You can even let them create their own rice toppings or noodles by simply offering the cooked ingredients on the table.

2. Barbecue party – If you are having your wedding reception at an open area then this food station can become a hit. Just make sure it’s placed where there’s enough ventilation to not let the smoke engulf the area where the guests eat and the program will be held. Prepare different kinds of sauces too to satisfy the different palates of your guests.

3. Salad bar – Don’t forget to have this on your station list! This is perfect for your health-conscious guests who still want to watch what they eat even if they are partying. Fill it up with plenty of greens and fruits and of course, different kinds of salad dressings–from the classic Thousand-Island dressing to the healthy vinaigrette.

4. Everything pasta – Fill it up with different kinds of pasta such as spaghetti, linguine, angel hair, fettuccine–whatever you can get your hands on! Then create red and white sauces to suite your guest’s preference. Don’t forget to add some toppings there and people would definitely have a grand time creating their own pasta meals. Either that or you can also choose to have the pasta meals prepared already, available in different variations.

5. Desserts – Well, who doesn’t like desserts right? This would probably be one of the most visited stations in your wedding reception. Have a mix of pies, cakes, or try to stick with a particular dessert theme like chocolate or cheesecake and make different kinds of dessert from this. You can also add some wine bottles in the area for an added touch of elegance.

These are just some of the wedding food stations that you can create. One of the great things about it is that it allows your guests to actually get to mingle with each other. Simple conversations that start from asking what this ingredient is and what goes well with it can help them meet other people in the wedding. So go ahead and have fun with creating these wedding stations. You can even ask your friends to pitch in to help, especially those who are fond of cooking.
