Engagement Party Ideas
Not everyone gets luck in love. The fact that two people find each other at all in these crazed world where everything fades away and life moves too fast, is a miracle of monumental proportions. After the proposal has become final, the groom and bride to be has at least one more party to attend before they head off to the tumultuous process of wedding planning.
The perennial engagement party is usually thrown by family or friends of the couple but there are also instances where the couple themselves throw the party.
When you are planning to throw your own engagement bash, you need as many engagement party ideas to make the event as perfect as it can get.
Location- The location for the party has to be in congruence to the number of people attending as well as the budget you have for the event. Soon to be married couples these days usually prefer smallish engagement parties so that they do not spend too much money especially when they are planning to have a grand wedding. It is acceptable to hold the party at a private residence as long as proper decorations are in order. You can also opt to rent a small hall if you do not want to hold the event at your house.
Guests- Contrary to popular belief, you do not actually have to invite all wedding guests to the engagement party. However, if you have very important parties such as bosses or business partners who are on the wedding guest list, it would be polite to also include them to the engagement party. Strictly speaking, it would be acceptable for you to invite only 10-25% of the total number of wedding guests to the engagement party.
Menu- Most engagement parties are very informal and if you have gone to more than one of these before, you would know that booze is considered the main course. However, it would be considered tacky if you will not have any food prepared for the guests at all. Seafood puffs, canapes, and other types of finger foods will be smart for the event as well as cocktail drinks. However, you can also opt for a sit down dinner which is more formal. You can serve a beef and chicken course combo which is always a winner even in actual wedding receptions.
Favors- You should also think about having little presents for your guests as tokens of appreciation for their attendance. Little place card holders, personalized photo frames, and other small but practical items will be greatly appreciated by your guests.
