Church Wedding Decor
When planning a wedding, one should also consider decorations for the church ceremony. The church, after all, is the place where the bride and groom would make their vow to love each other in front of their family and friends. Therefore it would only be fitting that the church, including the church pew, be adorned in a style that matches the occasion.
Flowers are staples in church wedding decor. Usually, flowers used in aisle decoration match the flowers used in the bride’s or bridesmaids’ bouquets. Flowers are also used to dress up church doors and make them match the aisle decor. Church pews, meanwhile, are made festive with artistic flower arrangements. Some of the famous flowers used for church decorations are roses, calla lilies, tulips, daisies, orchids, and peonies.

Helium balloons are increasingly being used for church wedding decor, especially for modern day weddings. It is not surprising to see church entry ways bedecked with colorful arches of helium balloons. Balloons can also be used in aisle decor as part of an elaborate flower arrangement.
Aside from helium balloons, greens are becoming a popular addition to church wedding decor. They reduce the use of flowers and, in some cases, replace flowers altogether. The advantage of using greenery is that they are cheaper than flowers without being less than charming. A dazzling arrangement of variegated hosta leaves, Italian ruscus, magnolia leaves, fern, lily grass, and amaranths can definitely replace a flower arrangement.
For the creative and resourceful wedding planner, there is no shortage of materials that can be used for church wedding decor. As a parting note, here’s a couple of tips designing and planning the church wedding decor:
1. Use materials consistent with the wedding theme. If the couple is having a beach-themed wedding, incorporate seashells, dead corals, and pearls in the church decor. For Asian-themed weddings, consider the use of bamboo sticks, paper fans, and paper lanterns in your plans.
2. Take into consideration the personal views and preferences of the couple. For example, if the couple is environmentally aware, suggest the use of potted plants instead of fresh cut flowers to minimize the environmental impact of the wedding.
