Displays for a Wedding Reception
A wedding is not a wedding without the table for the bride, groom and the other members of the entourage. Since the wedding table will make up most of the reception area and most likely will be the catchiest display in the celebration, it should be decorated with utmost creativity with consideration to the newly-weds’ taste of course.
Regulars on the wedding table are flowers and plants, candles, favors and souvenirs, place card and fabric holders. No wedding table is complete without these regulars. Still, how can you make your wedding table an eye catcher (of course, not to the point that it is more attractive the bride herself).
Here are some wedding table decorations and ideas:
- A bride is not a bride without her bridal bouquet. So is the wedding table. Decorate the wedding table with flowers that complement the motif of the wedding. Put the flowers in vases and set on a table with white tablecloths to bring that simple yet pleasing to the eye look. If your wedding is set outdoors, you can use orchids as decorations – use potted orchids or small stand-alone hangers for orchids on tables. You can even use the flowers and plants as wedding souvenirs to your special attendees.
- When you put your flowers on vases, you can use tall or slim vases for that elegant look.
- Plants have always been a part of weddings and the wedding tables, so it is always nice to accentuate the wedding table with green plants. These set a natural and a relaxing mood for the occasion.
- When you make a table runner, use fabric with alternating colors to achieve a crisscross patterned tulle. Make sure that you put pins to secure the tulle.
- Place candles alongside the flowers so that when you light the candles, your wedding table has a glow. It would be more advisable to use tall candle holders to avoid the flowers from getting fire when you light the candles. You can also put the candles in the middle of potted plants and flowers instead.
- For place card holders, you can use holders depending on the location. For instance, if your wedding is set outdoors, you can use holders made of twigs. If it’s a beach wedding, you can use
Additionally, here are some more suggestions for your wedding tables considering the seasons:
- You might want sunflowers or gerbera daisies for a summer wedding. You can also use long stem yellow roses if you like roses. Use coconut and palm tree candles to highlight the summer, tropical look.
- If you are having a spring wedding, you can use different kinds of flowers with majority of the mixture composed of daisies.
- A wedding set in fall would call for warm colors. Bright yellow and red would be smart choices. Highlight the wedding tables with gold or brown bows. Add Jordan almonds for more emphasis on the tables.
- Winter wedding? You can use mini-Christmas trees with snowflake card holders as centerpieces for the tables. You can also use a Christmas tree and a mistletoe for the center where the newly-weds will stand during the program. Use snowmen candles as additional decorations. White and blue or red and green could be possible colors for a winter wedding.
